Firstly, many people do not fully understand what a "tonsillolith" actually is, never mind how to remove tonsil stones. Formed in the small tonsillar crypts, these "stones" are little bits of food debris, dead buccal cells and bacteria. Those suffering from tonsil stones will feel like something is stuck in the back of their throats, itchy tonsils, sometimes a gagging sensation when swallowing, and as most often reported, extremely bad breath. It is the bacteria build upthat causes the horrendous bad breath.
Those who suffer from this condition regularly will have no doubt attempted to remove the tonsil stones themselves at home, just like I've done in the past using various implements to dislodge and loosen the small white stones. Sometimes they come loose themselves whilst coughing, other times I have resorted to tweezers, pen inserts and cotton buds to get rid of tonsil stones. Surgery is also an option, but having the whole tonsil removed can be painful and invasive and no doctor will recommend this simply to remove tonsil stones.
There is however a more natural way to cure and prevent tonsil stones reoccurring. By taking simple easy steps every day, and knowing which foods are causing your tonsilloliths you can make them dissolve naturally and prevent them from returning. I seen my tonsil stones disappear within two weeks and have been living a happier life without them for well over eight months. Most importantly, for me, my breath was noticeably better after just a few days and bad breath is now a thing of the past.
Having learned the proper way to remove tonsil stones I was glad never to have to poke things down my throat again or have that disgusting taste as the stones came up I thought I would share my experience. For more information on how I got rid of my tonsil stones visit BanishTonsilStones
Tonsil stones are not something that you have to live with - there are various treatments to get rid of them, without having your tonsils removed (which can be dangerous as people get older).
Have any ideas on how to remove tonsil stones?
Well, if anyone else has tonsil stones, you know how annoying they can be. I need a natural way to remove these blasted things from my tonsils!
Tonsil stones (or “tonsiliths”) can indeed be annoying, and it’s important to be very gentle when you try to get them out. Be very careful to not jam anything down your throat such as a toothpick or anything that can slip or injure your throat. I’ve heard some people have had good luck with a water pick or gargling with warm salt water.
What is more important is to figure out why you are getting them. You should consider seeing an ENT (ear, nose and throat doctor) or a dentist. Do they occur every time you’re sick and do you get sore throats a lot? If your tonsils keep getting inflamed, you may have an irreversible tendency towards infection and a tonsilectomy may be recommended. Even if you’re older and need to take a few weeks off work or school, it is usually worth it and you’ll find you get sick MUCH less frequently. Also, if you take a look at those tonsils you’ll be glad they’re out of your body! yuck.
How do you remove tonsil stones?
What is the best way to get them out of your throat and to avoid them reoccuring?
I found a couple of websites with tons of info… tonsil stones can also cause bad breath (they are made of sulpher, calcified nasal drip, and bacteria… ewwww), and so one of the sites is dedicated to that aspect of tonsil stones… but all very interesting!
I would at least see an ENT about it, and worst case scenario, if the stones are contributing to a really bad quality of life, you can have your tonsils removed. Just remember- your tonsils are there to catch this kind of debris before it goes farther into your throat!
Good Luck!

How To Get Rid of Tonsil Stones?
how can i keep my tonsils and avoid exposing from other risks that will appear if i get my tonsil stones removed?
The best ways to cure tonsil stones are maintaining your oral hygiene which helps in correcting the underlying causes and stops bad breath and formation of new stones. If they are persistent and unresponsive to home treatment consult a doctor as some may require medications.
Does the ebook Banish Tonsils Stones really work to remove the tonsil stones?
The ebook is suppose to give step by step info on how to get rid of tonsil stones. Doses it work and is worth buying the book on line?
its a scam. don’t waste your money.
i asked my ENT about it and he said he read it and it gave no more “special” info than any logical person could tell you. it basically said stuff like gargle with salt water which doesn’t really do anything for most people and avoid eating bread which none of us sufferers is actually going to do.
my advice is go see an ENT (ear nose and throat dr) and ask about getting a tonsillectomy.
i suffered with tonsil stones for 10yrs and i had my tonsils out in 2009 and i am soooo happy i did. no more tonsil stones. best decision ever!!!
Metal tool used to remove tonsil stones?
I’m looking for, what looks like a tool a dentist would use that literally ‘scoops’ out tonsiloliths (tonsil stones). Where would I find one of these?
Here’s a link to what one looks like, along with how it’s used.

ive noticed one has been on my right tonsil for a few days, but now i can feel it in the back of my throat and its really annoying
i cant touch my tonsils or put anything down my throat because it makes me gag.
ive tried gargling with mouthwash etc but nothing seems to be working
tonsil stones = tonsilloliths
ive been to my gp with this before, i was told its nothing to worry about.
i just want ways to remove them
please stop telling me to go to my gp! -
i went before and i was told that if you can, remove them yourself.
but if they are not causing any bother then leave them alone and they will eventually go by themselves
this one is irritating me so i want to remove it
The most aggressive form of treatment involves surgical removal of the stone, via oral curette or a tonsillectomy to remove the tonsils.
Tonsilloliths can be removed by the patient. Using a medicine dropper (especially one with a curved tip) can help to suck out the stones if they are small enough. A cotton swab dipped in hydrogen peroxide applied directly on the tonsil stones will not necessarily dislodge them – it may help some sufferers of tonsilloliths while others may experience only an unpleasant gagging sensation. The use of a water pick (irrigator) to clear out the crypts of accumulated debris may also help (only use an adjustable unit on the low pressure setting as you may damage tissue with the high pressure units). Use a solution of salt water, or a mixture of hydrogen peroxide with mouthwash in the water pick tank instead of (or combined with) water to cleanse the tonsil crypts and help prevent future tonsilloliths. While difficult to perform due to the gag reflex, a quick brushing with a toothbrush will generally remove any tonsilloliths. Another effective way to remove tonsil stones is by pressing a finger against the bottom of the tonsil and pushing upward. The pressure squeezes out stones. Some people can even reach them with their tongue, which is the best method as the tongue doesn’t stimulate the gag reflex.
Another remedy for removing them, without stimulating the gag reflex,(in most people) is to simply flex the throat, this causes the tonsils to tense up and will often result in the tonsil stone popping out.
For large crevices, an effective tool for digging out a stone is an ear curette. The curette is used primarily for the removal of ear wax, but is effective for removal of tonsil stones as well. It comprises a long thin metal stick with a tiny metal loop at the end. Alternatives include the curved end of a hair grip (bobby pin) or a cotton swab.
A longer term cure is possible by using laser resurfacing. The procedure is called laser tonsillotomy, or laser tonsillectomy. This technique can be performed under local anaesthetic, using the scanned carbon dioxide laser, which vaporises and removes the surface of the tonsils. In this way, the edges of the crypts and crevices that collect the debris are flattened out, so that they can no longer trap material. Therefore stones, which are almost like pearls forming from a grain of sand, cannot form.
The most drastic method, a tonsillectomy, is not usually indicated or recommended, but will provide permanent relief.
Prevention methods include gargling with salt water, cider vinegar, dissolvable paracetamol or a non-alcohol-, non-sugar-based mouth wash. )I.E Sodium Bicarbonate Mouthwash
How to remove tonsil stones?
i used to get them one every couple of months. for the past 4 months, though, i’ve had them everyday. it’s like this hole at the back of my mouth and the tonsil stones just keep “filling up”. i get rid of them one day, and they’re back the next and sometimes i can’t even get rid of it. anyway, my breath has also gotten worse. what should i do – go to the dentist? please, no inappropriate comments.
Hi Mini,
Yes it does sound like you have tonsil stones. Surgery to remove your tonsils is rarely necessary. Tonsil stones (also known as tonsilloliths) are often misdiagnosed and fairly common. They are caused by the accumulation of sulfur-producing bacteria and debris that become lodged in your tonsils. These can also lead to bad breath.
Try using an oxygenating toothpaste and mouthwash. When used in combination with nasal sinus drops it should eliminate your tonsil stones.
There’s a really good site here: http://www.tonsilstones.com/
Good Luck. I hope this helps!
Can a doctor remove tonsil stones?
I started getting these tonsil stones a few years ago. I’m male 24 now. The thing is i usually get it when i eat certain foods and or i eat my food too fast. One time i had it stuck in my throat for close to 1 month and felt sick everyday because i everytime i swallow my saliva, i would feel something stuck in my throat.
Well i think it took me 1 year to figure out how to take it out. I would open my mouth and use a flashlight and see those stones. I never knew i could do that till last year. Then i take my right index finger and push it out and would be gagging many times to get it out. Well after many attempts, i found out it was not that hard to push those stones out and then have a clear throat. Well the thing is almost everytime i had tonsil stones, it would be in right side inside my mouth. Now i got tonsil stones stuck again but its in the left middle side when i open my mouth. I cannot push it out whatsoever. Does anyone have any advice? It is really bothering me and i usually get sick if it gets stuck for more than 2 days let alone the uncomfortable feeling.
I use to use vinegar to help but it helps a little bit. I am really upset that i got tonsil stones stuck in the left/middle side as oppose to the right side, where i could easily push it out with my finger. Thoughts? I won’t do that surgery though because i heard there is way too much pain. I keep telling myself i will eat slower and make sure i chew my food properly but i forget every few weeks.
Last time i went to an ENT doctor, he told me he could not even see the tonsil stones even though it was extremely easy for me to see it when i opened my mouth and looked at the mirror with a flashlight. Could an ENT doctor push the tonsil stones out for me at the office? Do they have the equipment there? I know its a temporarily solution and surgery would be the last resort.
Also, is it possible for tonsil stones to be stuck in your throat for a VERY LONG TIME? Or do tonsil stones must fall off after a certain time period? I try my best to cough, gargle it out without any luck and i am really frustrated.
A doctor should be able to remove the stones. You could try using forceps or even your tongue.
The Wikipedia entry has some ways to remove the stones as well as using laser resurfacing to smooth the tonsil so it is more difficult for the stones to form.

How can I remove tonsil stones when I have a serious gag reflex?
I get tonsil stones about once a month. I have tried coughing them up. I have tried qtips and using my toothbrush. I have a bad gag reflex so none of these worked for me. I have tried gargling with salt water and mouthwash. I just can seem to get them out and my throat is really sore this time. Any other ideas?
Here is a habit you will need to.
picking, pressing, mouthwashing, brushing, tongue scraping
This is going to sound crazy but I have found that using a flash light and jewelry tweezers…they are about 12 inches long…I can press on the pockets with it…success….then what I dont get with the pressing it is easy to grab with the tweezers.
I found these suggestions on wikipedia.
Tonsilloliths can be removed by the patient. Using a medicine dropper (especially one with a curved tip) can help to suck out the stones if they are small enough.
Pulsating nasal irrigator. The use of pulsating irrigation to clear out the crypts of accumulated debris may also help (only use an adjustable unit on the low pressure setting as you may damage tissue with the high pressure units).[citation needed] Use a solution of salt water to cleanse the tonsil crypts and help prevent future tonsilloliths. The use of a combination nasal/throat irrigation device is recommended).[citation needed] for direct cleansing of the tonsil stones with the throat irrigator tip and cleansing of the nasal passages using the nasal irrigation tip. This is especially beneficial for post-nasal drip which routinely contributes to the formation of tonsil stones.).[citation needed]
While difficult to perform due to the gag reflex, a quick brushing with a toothbrush will generally remove surfaced tonsilloliths. Another effective way to remove tonsil stones is by pressing a finger or Q-tip against the bottom of the tonsil and pushing upward. The pressure squeezes out stones. Good Luck and I am sorry you have to go through this!
I think I am going to try the ear dropper.
can anyone show me how to remove tonsil stones or cure it,?
its really buggin me and its nasty, its not comfortable and smells like …..
i dont want to speak close to people and i brush/ clean my mouth but it doens’t seem to help, should i remove my tonsils?
please help me out
I have these too, they really suck but other than have your tonsils removed I don’t think there is much you can do about them. Try buying a water pik and using it to get them out, you can also gargle with listernine or a saltwater mixture to break them lose.
Try seeing an ENT, they could give you some advice on what to do to prevent them.
Is it worth it to remove tonsils to get rid tonsil stones?
I’ve had tonsil stones for almost 3 months now, and it pisses me off! I’ve read articles online and websites trying to sell their product to remove tonsil stones. Do any of these products work? Also, what do I do to prevent them? So this brings me to the main question, how do I get rid of tonsil stones permanently? Is it worth it to get your tonsils surgically removed to get rid of tonsil stones permanently?
well i’ve had tonsil stones since i was 12 (i’m now 23).
my ENT said that the products out there people want you to buy pretty much tell you want you already know and there is no real way to prevent or get rid of them for good other than removing the tonsils.
i just had my tonsils out on friday cuz of my tonsil stones and while i’m having a crappy recovery like most people do i don’t think i’ll regret having it done in the long run.
how do you remove tonsil stones forever?
I”m 12 and every once and a while i get tonsil stones. Does anyone know how to get rid of them for good? my doctor told me to gurgle salt water or use a water pick. Both don’t work because gurgling isn’t affective, and when i use a water pick, my tongue keeps moving in the way befor i can reach the stone. please help!!!!!
Go see a different doctor, he should have had your tonsils removed a long time ago.
How much, if at all, does removing tonsil stones tend to improve your breath?
After reading countless people’s methods for removing the things, I’m wondering how much your breath has improved as a result? Or do you just do it out of habit?
I’m considering getting a waterpik for this purpose.
I would think that it helps a bunch, because those are nasty congealing hunks of bacteria and stuff. So get that out and it should smell really way better!
how to remove tonsil stones?
I need to know how to remove tonsil stones. I need really good information about this subject. Please just good information and quality stuff.
Thanks in advance.
Tonsils are the bodies filter to viral bacteria – like any filter, they get backed up with an infection.
Tonsil stones are basically like a build-up in your tonsils that cause them to become inflamed. You’d have to go to the doctor for them to be removed without harming the tonsils themselves. Doctors are very reluctant to remove tonsils like they used too, despite having lymph nodes that filter out infection from the body. Tonsils are very important to preventing viral infection.
So just go to the doctor. =) They’ll probably schedule a very minor surgery to remove the stones.
how do i remove my tonsil stones?

I would say still having your tonsils is also a big factor in tonsil cancer. And I only skimmed the article but it was like all the French kissing and oral sex nowadays… So why hasn't Europe who, for the most part has been getting freakier for CENTURIES in decline with the tonsil cancer surge? Why aren't isn't there a vocal tongue cancer awareness contingent in Montreal holding big marathons and shit?

Laundry
To remove grease stains from clothing try club soda.
To remove mildew stains from clothing, moisten garment with lemon juice and salt, and then allow the garment to dry in the sun.
To remove bloodstains, place a few drops of ammonia on the stain before washing in cold water.
To remove ink stains, spray liberally with hairspray, then rub with a clean dry cloth. If this does not work, pour a bit of rubbing alcohol on the spot and then launder as usual.
Do you have too many suds in your wash? Sprinkle salt over them.
To whiten socks, soak in a pot of water with a lemon slice and bring to a boil.
